What is Snapchat?

Snapchat is both a messaging platform and a social network. Users can chat with their friends by sending them photos, short videos up to 10 seconds long. Text chats and video calls are two other features that were added more recently to the app.

One of the most unique things about Snapchat is the temporary components of all the content that gets shared on it. Photos and videos essentially disappear a few seconds after they’ve been viewed by their recipients. Unlike other social networks, which keep your content online forever unless you decide to delete it, Snapchat’s disappearing content makes online interaction feel more human and a little more grounded in the present moment.

The heaviest Snapchat users are teenagers and young adults who submerge themselves in social media and are addicted to their smartphones. Because Snapchat photos self-destruct automatically, a big trend has emerged: catfishing.

Statistics on Snapchat

This shows the statistic of students ranging from the ages of 13-17 that illustrates the percentage of the amount of teenagers in the United States who were Snapchat users as of April 2018.

According to the L.A. Biz, Snapchat is the 3rd most used app by teens.

    1. I enjoyed your visual descriptions and relevant issues however left me wondering the purpose of the article and the correlation between the visuals. Your article was interesting and well worded. To answer your question I don’t think catfishing is taken lightly or as a joke at my school.

Your post made sense and we understood everything however you weren’t really providing that many evidence to like figure out how to understand all of your description, and again it was a good description but you just didn’t provide enough information and evidence to understand why Snapchat is so bad for pre teens.
